Sanding (Grinding)
To carry out a full natural stone tie restoration we will have to start with the sanding process, which is also known as grinding.
Sanding is a very aggressive process using diamond impregnated equipment to remove deep scratches, etching and lippage. It is performed by using a heavily weighted floor machine with water. Moreover, this process is typically dust free, and the goal is to flatten the floor
Honing
Honing is a process where high grit diamond and diamond impregnated equipment are used to shed a small amount of stone off the surface of the stone tile.. This process removes moderate surface damage, scratches etc..
A honed finish can be referred to a satin smooth surface with relatively little light reflection.
Polishing
Polishing of natural Stone is a process of which a series of higher grade diamond impregnated pads or powders are buffed over the surface to achieve a beautiful long lasting gloss.
Sealing
The process of Sealing natural stone is the final step. Sealing the tile prevents minor damage by filling in microscopic pores while creating a surface barrier of protection.
Crystallization
Crystallization is a secondary option for customers with Tile that has minimal to no damage and just needs to be shinned up.
Crystallizing your natural stone is the process in which you spray a chemical ( crystallizer ) on the surface and then buff in said chemical using a floor buffer with a steel wool or hog hair pad . This process is repeated multiple times until desired shine is reached. A weighted machine or heavy plate is used to obtain optimal results.
